Our Students

Below is our Education Scholars Achievement Board which shows students who have gone through our education programme and their accomplishments after the Foundation.

The following are some of our students who have excelled during their time with the Community Foundation.

Joe Straw

Joe joined us in September 2012 completing his Level 2 Diploma before enrolling at Hillsborough College to undertake the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport. Chris Bailey, Education Officer, speaks highly of Joe; “He is a role model as he is always striving to do better. He leads by example in punctuality, motivation and enthusiasm.” Joe has subsequently accepted a role as an assistant on the Foundation’s NCS Programme.

Jordan Wildey

Jordan completed the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport in 2014. Jordan attained some of the highest marks on the course and has furthered his education by going on to study Sports Coaching and Development at Sheffield Hallam University. Jordan said: “The Foundation has offered me a better standard of education, in an enjoyable environment.”

Kieron Halfpenny

Kieron joined the Level 3 Education Futsal Scholarship after volunteering with the Foundation’s Kicks Programme. Alongside his studies, Kieron volunteers with the Foundation, gaining experience in sports coaching. Kieron furthered his education with Sheffield Hallam University and acknowledges that his time with the Foundation “has opened many doors for future life.”

Joe Harris

Joe studied the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport Futsal Scholarship with the club he supports. “Studying in a professional environment and getting the chance to represent the football team I support was an offer I could not turn down.”  Joe went on to study Sports Coaching and Development at Sheffield Hallam University.

Alex Pugh

Alex Pugh joined us in 2013, and has represented South Yorkshire Schools at football. Representing your county is one of the highest levels that can be achieved whilst in education. Alex speaks highly of his time with the Foundation: “The Community Foundation is a very good place for both education and Futsal, it has excellent facilities which I enjoy being a part of.”

Kyle Lilley

Kyle Lilley has earned himself a trial with England School Boys after topping the goal scorers’ chart, scoring 37 goals in the regional division. Kyle has developed his football skills whilst becoming a popular figure in the South Yorkshire County School team.

Matthew Morton

In his first year Matthew Morton was scouted by a semi-professional football team, together with Sheffield Wednesday Academy and England Futsal. Matt, speaking of the course, said: “This course has given me the opportunity to play in the fastest indoor growing sport around the world (Futsal) whilst gaining BTEC National qualifications.”
