About the role:

Active Through Football

‘Active Through Football’ is a new programme from Sport England, which is funded by the National Lottery and delivered by the Football Foundation. The aim of ‘Active Through Football’ is to increase activity levels and create sustained behaviour change using a ‘Place-based approach’ by bringing key local stakeholders together as a consortium to create and deliver a plan for their local area or ‘Place’. The plans will be based predominately on activating key settings through the delivery of recreational and informal small-sided football activity and developed through community engagement.

‘Active Through Football’ revenue investment will be invested in Sheffield and a consortium of local organisations/stakeholders (including, among others, Sheffield United Community Foundation, Yorkshire Sport Foundation, Sheffield City Council, Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme, Sheffield & Hallamshire Football Association, SOAR Community and Saba Wellbeing) (the “Consortium“) have since accepted a grant offer from the Football Foundation, with Sheffield United Community Foundation appointed as the ‘Lead Organisation’ for the Consortium.

Sheffield United Community Foundation are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate individual to lead on the implementation of the project in Burngreave. The ideal person will be someone from ‘our place’ with a strong local connection and understanding of the place and the community.

Initially, this post will contribute to tackling inactivity amongst men aged 18-40 in ‘our place’ using football to engage the audiences and improve health outcomes. They will tackle health inequalities through promoting and supporting men to develop healthier behaviours and lifestyles in the context of their own local communities.

The role will be fixed term for 2 years. A contract extension will be subject to meeting the funders requirements.

The role will require a flexible approach to working including delivering in the evening and at weekends and in different locations within Burngreave or Parson Cross.

As an employed member of staff at Sheffield United Community Foundation you will be entitled to statutory holidays that include bank holidays as well as adopting a flexible working policy.
