Girls Sports Lead

 

Sheffield United Community Foundation are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate individual to engage and support girls aged 8-18 of all backgrounds and abilities in football, alternative sports and physical activity, as well as personal development workshops – providing a trusted, positive influence in high need areas across the city of Sheffield.

The role will be fixed term until August 2022. A contract extension is subject to funding which will be agreed before August 2022.

High Level Summary:

Term: Fixed term until 31st August 2022 (extension subject to funding)

Salary: Pro rata £17,654 – £18,500 (Actual £8,071 – £8,458)

Start Date: As soon as possible

Closing Date: 24th April 2022

About the role:

This role will engage and support girls aged 8-18 of all backgrounds and abilities in football, alternative sports and physical activity, and personal development workshops – providing a trusted, positive influence in high need areas across the city of Sheffield.

The purpose of the role is to engage with girls who do not currently participate in sport or physical activity or may have fallen out of love with sport for many reasons. The ideal candidate will be someone who can engage with girls with a variety of needs including those going through puberty, facing challenges at home and school, as well as understanding and supporting girls from different backgrounds and cultures. The role will require working with girls in a variety of settings and it is important the right person is able to develop positive relationships with girls to help improve their overall wellbeing.

The goal is to inspire girls aged 8-18 to achieve their potential and improve their wellbeing though physical activity, sports, and workshops. We want to provide girls with opportunities to take part in physical activity and sports which they want to do and improve girls’ confidence and self-esteem by using the inspiring brand of Sheffield United and the Premier League. Together we aim to build stronger, safer and more inclusive communities for all.

The role will require working in various facilities across Sheffield and surrounding areas, which includes evenings and weekends, to provide project specific initiatives at a time and place which meet the needs of participants.

As an employed member of staff at Sheffield United Community Foundation you will be entitled to statutory holidays that include bank holidays as well as adopting a flexible working policy.
