Inspiring More Girls in Football

By October 17, 2018News

Over the last few weeks girl’s and women’s football has been kicking off at various venues across the city including one of our newest clubs at Westbourne School. The girls from years 3 – 8 had a fantastic surprise for their first session when Sheffield United Women’s first team player Sophie Barker arrived to coach them, along with our Community Foundation Ladies Manager Amy Glossop.

‘It’s great to see more girls playing football and to be able to coach the girls myself ’, says Sophie, who is also the Foundations new Premier League Girls Football Coordinator and Girls Scholarship Coach. ‘I love playing for Sheffield United Women and it was great to get our first 3 points last weekend, but I also love coaching and inspiring more girls to play football at every level.’

If your mum, daughter, niece or granddaughter is interested in getting involved in football please contact sophie.barker@sufc-community.co.ukor call 0114 2619 883.
